Navy renders assistance to nab drug trafficker

The Navy with the assistance of Police Special Task Force (STF) nabbed a suspect with Kerala cannabis in Illuppaikadawai, Thunukkai on 29^th September 2019.

The North Central Naval Command together with Cheddikulam Police STF carried out a raid in Illuppaikadawai area and apprehended this suspect who hid 1.085kg of Kerala cannabis in a house. The suspect is a resident of the same area, aged 44. Further, the suspect has been identified as a drug trafficker in the area.

The accused along with Kerala cannabis was handed over to the Illuppaikadawai Police for onward legal action. The Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular operations to combat illegal drug trafficking in Sri Lanka, which has resulted in apprehension of a large number of people who use and sell illegal drugs.
