Person apprehended with 186 packets of glyphosate

The Navy in coordination with Police Special Task Force (STF) conducted a raid in Medawachchiya town and apprehended a suspect with a stock of glyphosate, on 26^th September 2019.

The North Central Naval Command with the assistance of Settikulam STF carried out a raid in the town area of Medawachchiya and found 186 packets (18.6kg) of banned agrochemical glyphosate. The packets of glyphosate had been on sale at a retail shop and the shop owner was also held accordingly.

The accused along with the packets of glyphosate was handed over to the Department of Agriculture, Anuradhapura for onward action.
