840kg of beedi leaves found during naval operations

The Navy found 840kg of beedi leaves during a search conducted in Talaimannr beach area today (25^th September 2019).

The North Central Naval Command, during a search conducted in Talaimannr beach area recovered 18 suspicious packaged washed to the shore and found 840kg of beedi leaves in them. The seized haul of beedi leaves will be handed over to the Jaffna Customs for onward investigation.

Accordingly, the Navy has found over 3,500kg of beedi leaves during operations conducted in the North Central Naval Area, so far in the month of September. As a result of continuous naval operations, the smugglers find it difficult to continue their nefarious activities and the Navy will continue to tighten its grip on such activities taking place in island’s waters.
