Navy assists to apprehend a drug trafficker

A person with 500g of local Cannabis was held by Navy during a raid carried out in coordination with Police STF, at Aluthgoda area in Tissamaharama, on 24^th September 2019.

During a patrol carried out at Aluthgoda area by Southern Naval Command in coordination with Police STF- Katharagama had observed a suspicious three wheeler and accordingly, by searching this amount of Cannabis was recovered in possession of the person travelling in the three wheeler. By further inquiry, it was revealed that this person is a drug trafficker in the area and apprehended Cannabis were transporting for sale. He is a 52 years old resident of the same area.

The suspect, three wheeler and recovered amount of Cannabis were handed over to Tissamaharama Police for further investigation.
