Army chief meets Commander of the Navy

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva paid a courtesy call on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva at the Naval Headquarters today (16^th September 2019).

The visiting Army chief was warmly received by Commander of the Navy and this was the first official meeting between the top military brass, after Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva assumed duties as Commander of the Army.

During the cordial meeting, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva expressed his best wishes to the Commander of the Army and discussed several matters of bilateral importance. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark the importance of this occasion. Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Director Generals of the Navy and Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe were also present on this occasion.
