Navy assists apprehension of 02 persons for possessing Kerala cannabis

The Navy together with the Police carried out raids in Walasmulla, Matara and Mannar on 07^th September 2019 and apprehended 02 persons with Kerala cannabis in their possession.

Accordingly the Southern Naval Command with the assistance of Special Task Force in Pattipola conducted a raid at the Bowala junction and found 1.05kg of Kerals cannabis in the possession of a person, when searched. Further interrogation revealed that the suspect is a drug trafficker in the area. The apprehended suspect is a resident of Walasmulla area, aged 30.

Meanwhile, the North Central Naval Command in coordination with the Division Vice Squad in Mannar, during a raid conducted at the Mannar Railway Station, held a suspect with 75g of Kerala cannabis. The apprehended suspect is a 35 year-old resident of Eppawala.

The apprehended suspects along with seized Kerala cannabis were handed over the Walasmulla and Mannar Police Stations respectively. The Navy is conducting continuous operations to nab drug traffickers as well as persons for possessing such substances.
