Five (05) persons apprehended for engaging in illegal fishing

SL Navy apprehended 05 persons for engaging in illegal fishing in seas off Kokilai areas, on 7^th September 2019.

During a patrol carried out by Eastern Naval Command in the seas off Kokilai, these suspects were apprehended for engaging in fishing using unauthorized fishing nets. Along with the suspects the Navy also seized a dinghy, an outboard motor, a 360 feet long unauthorized fishing net. The suspects have been identified as residents of Pulmoddai area .

The apprehended persons along with the dinghy, outboard motor, unauthorized fishing net and other fishing gears were handed over to the office of the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Mullaitivu for onward investigation.
