Commandant’s Cup Sailing Regatta concluded successfully in Trincomalee
The 2nd Commandant’s Cup Sailing Regatta, organized by the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), was held in the alluring waters off Sandy Bay in the port city of Trincomalee from 04th to 07th September.
Officer under trainees from Naval Academies of Bangladesh, India and officer under trainees of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University along with officer training intakes of the NMA participated in this regatta. The closing ceremony and prize giving which was held at the Office Institute Sandy Bay, was graced by Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations of the Navy, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle, as the Chief Guest.
The competition was held for 04 days under two categories as Open and Cup Championships. Accordingly, the Indian Naval Academy won the Open Championship while the Cup Championship was won by the officer under trainees of Naval & Maritime Academy.
Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe, Commandant NMA, Commodore Kalana Jinadasa and a large number of officers and sailors were also present on this occasion.
