Navy brings ashore critically ill fisherman for treatment

The Navy today (04th September) rendered assistance to transfer a critically ill fisherman ashore for prompt treatment.

Upon information disseminated by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources about a critically ill fisherman aboard the multiday fishing trawler ‘Sajith Putha 2’, a Navy Fast Attack Craft was dispatched to retrieve the patient who was down with a sudden cardiac arrest.

The ill fisherman was safely transferred to the naval craft about 14 nautical miles off the Galle Lighthouse and brought to the shore while administering first aid. Subsequently, he was rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
