Navy launches a cleaning programme at Galle Face Green in concurrent with the International Day of Cleaning Beaches

In concurrent with the International Day of Cleaning Beaches, Sri Lanka Navy launched a cleaning programme around the beach areas of Galle Face Green, today (2^nd September 2019).

This programme initiated by Western Naval Command in concurrent with the International Day of Cleaning Beaches, is scheduled to conduct till 8th September.

At today’s inaugural campaign naval personnel of Western Naval Command collected and disposed huge dump of garbage scattered over the beach area around Galle Face Green. SL Navy commenced this cleaning effort with the prime objective of maintaining a clean and beautiful surrounding at Galle Face Green which is attracted by both local and foreign tourists.

Similar environment friendly activities are being carried out in all Naval Commands under the visionary “Green and Blue” concept of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.
