Gintota beach fringed with coastal lowland plants by Navy
As part of a wide range of conservation projects conducted by the Navy to protect the beautiful coastal belt of the country, another coastal conservation programme was held at the Gintota Beach in Galle on 31st August 2019.
Accordingly, the Southern Naval Command volunteered to clean the Gintota beach and fringe it by planting coastal lowland saplings like sea poison (Mudilla), screw pine (Wetakeiyya) and coconut along the beach. The event was attended by religious dignitaries, naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command and residents in the area.
The Sri Lanka Navy, which is committed to protecting the coastline, is implementing these environmental-friendly programmes for the benefit of the next generation.
