Navy gives prompt first aid to ill fisherman at sea
The Navy promptly gave first aid to a fisherman who was suddenly taken ill at sea, on 28th August 2019.
Responding to information given by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Naval Headquarters instructed SLNS Parakramabahu patrolling in southern seas, attached to the Southern Naval Command, to administer first aid to the ill fisherman who was aboard the fishing vessel ‘Lithuli 02’.
Having retrieved the patient onboard the naval vessel, he was given first aid by the naval medics attached to the ship. The fisherman who complained of a chest pain was treated and returned to the fishing vessel, as his ailment was not critical.
As such, the Sri Lanka Navy remains vigilant over distressed community in the Sri Lankan territorial waters as well as search and rescue region around the clock.
