Navy takes charge in conducting wide range of events under ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu’ programme in Jaffna

Following His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena's ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu’ concept, a wide range of programmes organized by the Navy was held in Jaffna and its island sector from 23^rd to 26^th August 2019.

Accordingly, going by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva the Northern Naval Command organized a range of events which included beach cleaning programmes, tree plantation programmes, awareness programmes on the consequences of illegal fishing practices, drug awareness campaigns and shramadana events in Kareinagar, Madagal, Vettalakeni as well as on the islands of Kayts, Mandativu and Pungudutivu. Apart from that, a friendly cricket match was also held with the participation of the community in Vettalakeni. Meanwhile, security committees were also set up for the schools located on the Delft Island.

These programmes organized by the Northern Naval Command received high admiration from the state and civil organizations and the community in the region took part in these event with full of enthusiasm.
