SLNS Sayura and Nandimithra set sail for ports of Chittagong and Rangoon for training exercise

The Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) SLNS Sayura and Fast Missile Vessel (FMV) SLNS Nandimithra set sail for the ports of Chittagong in Bangladesh and Rangoon in Myanmar for a training exercise of officer under trainees in the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, the two ships left the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 22^nd August 2019.

SLNS Sayura is commanded by Captain (ASW) Nilantha Hewawitharana, whereas Captain (C) Buddhika Liyanagamage is the Commanding Officer of SLNS Nandimithra.

The ships are expected to stay in Bangladesh from 26^th to 29^th of August and will be in Myanmar from 01^st to 04^th of September. The ships’ crew members are expected to engage in several training exercises with the naval counterparts of both countries, during this visit.

Meanwhile, a friendly volleyball game, organized by the Myanmar Navy, is scheduled to be held between the members of both navies to improve their spirit of camaraderie as well.

Both ships are scheduled to return home from the port of Rangoon on 04^th September, on completion of their training visit.
