Two persons used banned nets for fishing held by Navy

SL Navy apprehended two (02) persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets at Kokilai area in Trincomalee, on 22^nd August 2019.

Accordingly, Eastern Naval Command, during a patrol conducted at Kokilai area in Trincomalee, apprehended these suspects who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets. Navy also seized a dinghy, a banned net and some fishing gears. Apprehended persons along with the dinghy, net and other fishing gears are due to be handed over to the Director of Fisheries-Mulativu.

As a result of continuous Naval patrol conducted by SL Navy in search of illegal fishers who use unauthorized nets at the seas off Eastern coast during the past few weeks such activities have reduced preserving the aquatic resources.
