Navy recovers body of person drowned in estuary of Kelani river

The Navy, today (10^th August), managed to recover a body of a person who went missing after drowning in the estuary of Kelani river.

Two fishermen who went for fishing on 09^th August 2019 were reported missing after their fishing boat capsized in the estuary of Kelani river. On receipt of information from the Wattala Police about this unfortunate event, a team of divers attached to the Western Naval Command was promptly rushed to the location.

During the search operation, the Navy divers found a body of a person and that was subsequently brought ashore. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Palliyawatta in Wattala, aged 53. The dead body was handed over to the Wattala Police for further investigation.
