Navy finds 388 conch shells during search in Pudumathalan

The Navy, during a search conducted in Pudumathalan area on 08^th August 2019, recovered 388 conch shells.

During a search carried out by the Eastern Naval Command, these conch shells which were hidden in sand near a fishing lodge, were recovered. The seized conch shells were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Mullaitivu for onward investigation.

According to the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act the possession, buying, displaying with the intention of selling, transporting or exporting of conch shells which are less than 70 mm in diameter has been banned.
