Navy life saving teams stand by for safety of local and foreign tourists
Sri Lanka Navy has deployed several life saving teams in view of protecting the lives of local and foreign tourists who come to beaches in Galle area for enjoyment and to see the natural beauty.
Accordingly, under the directives of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and with the supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul, life saving teams attached to the Navy’s Rapid Respond, Rescue and Relief unit (4RU), have deployed at the Jungle Beach and the Suduwella Beach in Rumassala, Galle.
Since this is school vacation period, the number of tourists to Rumassala area have rapidly increased. Naval life saving teams have been deployed to avert the trend of taking selfy photos in risky places, bathing and plying games in water at dangerous locations etc. by these local and foreign tourists.
However, avoid bathing at unfamiliar places and take a bath at the places where it is marked as safe. Further, everybody must be responsible to make their own safety while ensuring safety of others around.
SL Navy constantly keeps vigilant eye on visitors who come to the beaches round the country and as well as the inland reservoirs for bathing, in order to protect their lives.
