366 recruits of 236th intake pass out
Three hundred and sixty six (366) recruits belonging to the 236th intake, on completion of their basic training, passed out at the main parade ground of SLNS Shiksha, today (4th August ).
The Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Niraja Attegalle graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Venerable Maha Sanga and religious dignitaries of other faiths, Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sudath Kurukulasooriya, the Commandant SLNS Shiksha Captain Janaka Nissanka, Officers representing the Naval Headquarters and North Central Naval Command, officers and large number of sailors of SLNS Shiksha, Senior officers of the sister services and Police, officials from the government/private institutions in the area and parents/relatives of the newly passed out recruits were also present on this occasion.
In recognition of the excellent performers, trophies were presented to them. Recruit DMSI Gunawardena was adjudged the Best Recruit and the Best Sportsman while Recruit AVCP Madushanka was selected the highest aggregate in all subjects of the 236th intake. Further, Recruit RKGSD Rsndima was adjudged the Best Marksman. “Wasabha” Division became the Best Division of the 236th intake.
The ceremonial evening was colourful with an impressive drill display presented by the passed out recruits of 236th intake followed by a cultural show of the naval cultural troupe.
