Navy renders assistance to apprehend drug traffickers in Bangadeniya

Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with STF conducted an operation to crackdown on drug peddlers and those who use substances in Bangadeniya area, Chilaw on 29^th July 2019

This search operation was conducted in Bangadeniya locality by naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command and officials of STF in Puttalam. During this operation troops intercepted a motorbike ridden by a suspicious person. However, the motorcyclist had escaped the scene leaving his motorbike behind. During further search, the Navy managed to find 190g of Kerala cannabis hidden in the bike. It is believed that the suspect might have carried cannabis to sell. The seized Kerala cannabis and motorbike were handed over to the Chilaw Police for onward investigation.

Contributing to the national effort in eradicating of drug menace from the country, Sri Lanka Navy conducts frequent operations and was able to have the law on a number of drug peddlers in recent times.
