Another mission of Green Blue Drive

As another extended stage of the visionary concept "Drive for Green and Blue" (Neela Haritha Sangramaya) of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva,naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command and Southeastern Naval Command conducted a cleaning programme at Katharagama sacred area and Kumana National Sanctuary, today (27th July ).

Accordingly, under the directives of Commander Southern Naval Area Admiral Kassapa Paul, naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command cleaned the surrounded premises of Katharagama sacred temple and the bank areas of Manik Ganga. These areas which highly filled up with garbage due to acts of public, were turned well cleaned litter free areas by naval personnel who engaged in a strenuous task. During the cleaning huge amount of plastic and polythene thrown irresponsibly over the sacred premises, was disposed and it was commended by the many visitors of both clergy and civilian.

Further, a special cleaning effort was taken today in Kumana National Sanctuary to clean the area after the Foot Walk to Katharagama. By this cleaning programme conducted under the directives of Commander Southeastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Noel Kalubowila, the area from Okanda to Krindi Oya was cleaned. This effort was exclusively taken in view of protecting innocent lives of wild animals.

Sri Lanka Navy who are always committed to protect environment and wildlife, have been conducting number of eco friendly projects under the directives of Commander of the Navy.
