Person held for engaging in illegal fishing

Naval personnel held a person for engaging in illegal fishing in the seas off Norway island,Trincomalee on 24^th July 2019.

The crew of a Coastal Patrol Craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command, during a patrol Carried out around the Norway island, an illegal fishing net was noticed. By further search the person who netted it, was apprehended. The suspect is a resident of Muthur aged 30.

The suspect along with the net was handed over to the office of the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Trincomalee for onward action.
