Navy war heroes receive wide range of benefits from "Sathviru Abhiman” welfare project
The presentation of “Sathviru Abhiman” benefits for the welfare of serving and retired armed force, Police and Civil Security Department personnel was conducted under the patronage of the President, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena at the Sugathadasa Stadium on 22nd July 2019. The event was organized by the Ministry of Defence with a view to offering a wide range of benefits for war heroes.
Accordingly, 52 naval personnel under the “Meth Sewana” project, 174 beneficiaries under “Api Wenuwen Api”- partly constructed housing project, 26 naval personnel under the project for land deeds and 08 children of naval families under “Viru Sisu Pradeepa” scholarships received welfare benefits. As such, a total of 260 naval personnel received benefits from the programme mooted by the Ministry of Defence. The proceedings for the presentation of benefits to the naval personnel and their family members were organized by Director General Services, Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala and his staff.
The occasion was attended by Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Shantha Koottegoda (Retd.), Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, Commander of the Army, Commander of the Air Force, Acting Inspector General of Police, senior officers from the armed forces as well as a large number of members of naval families.
