Another mission of ‘Neela Haritha Sangramaya’ launched in Southern Naval Command
Naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command successfully conducted yet another beach cleaning programme today (20th July 2019). The programme was organized on the side-lines of the visionary concept - drive for Green and Blue environment (Neela Haritha Sangramaya) of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.
Accordingly, officers and sailors of Naval Deployment ‘Hambantota’ and Naval Detachment ‘Amaduwa’ were engaged in these clean-up drives at Wellawatta beach in Hambantota and the beach in front of Naval Detachment ‘Amaduwa’
The beaches which were polluted due to a number of reasons were brought back to places of neat and tidy as a result of the Navy’s effort. During this effort, naval personnel removed a large amount of plastic, polythene and garbage littered the beach.
Besides, a number of environmental friendly programmes of this nature are being conducted in every Naval Command.
