New Commandant of SLNS Nipuna assumes office

Captain Chandima Silva assumed office as the 24^th Commandant of SLNS Nipuna today (17^th July 2019).

Captain Silva was warmly welcomed to SLNS Nipuna according a Guard of Honour and his predecessor, Commodore Aruna Danapala formally handed over the duties of the command to the incoming Commandant subsequently. Meanwhile, the former Commandant shared a light moment with the officers of SLNS Nipuna before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in compliance with naval traditions to signify his departure. Commodore Aruna Danapala also holds office as Deputy Area Commander Southern Naval Area.

Upon assumption of the duties, the newly appointed Commandant addressed officers and instructed them to uphold qualities like discipline, good conduct etc. among officers, under trainees and instructors attached to the establishment.
