Another Naval operation in drug prevention
Naval personnel in coordination with officials of Police Narcotics Bureau in Puttalam held a person with a haul of aphrodisiac pills (Madanamodaka), during a raid carried out in Puttalam area on 16th July 2019.
Accordingly, Naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command in coordination with officials of Police Narcotics Bureau in Puttalam apprehended this person with 6800 aphrodisiac pills which were packed in 272 parcels. By further search, 80 illegal cigarettes which were hidden in the suspect’s boutique and the house, were also recovered.
The suspects is a residents of Palaviya area in Puttalam aged 61. The haul of drugs along with the suspect were handed over to Police Narcotics Bureau in Puttalam for further investigation.
In line with the combined drug prevention programme established by His Excellency the President Maithiripala Sirisena, Sri Lanka Navy, under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, is conducting raids to hold drug racketeers, with the noble intention of creating a drug free country.
