Commander of the Navy opens new building of Naval Research Wing

The newly constructed building of the Naval Research Wing (NRW) was declared open by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva at the Naval Complex Welisara on 12^th July 2019.

This occasion was attended by Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe, Head of the Naval Research Wing, Captain, Prasad Kariyapperuma, officers from the Naval Headquarters and Western Naval Command and the staff of the Naval Research Wing.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Silva also planted a mango sapling on the NRW premises to signify this special occasion.

The Naval Research Wing conducts essay competitions and compiles the Navy Journal to ameliorate the writing skills of the naval personnel as well as to develop their knowledge in the field of research study. Besides the Naval Research Wing is the repository of the Sri Lanka Navy’s history, preserving it for the benefit of the future Navy.
