A meeting on security matters and ISPS implementation held in Galle and Hambantota
A multilateral meeting on security matters and International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) implementation was held in the Galle and Hambantota on 11th and 12th July 2019.
Accordingly the meeting on ISPS implementation of Galle harbour was held at the Southern Naval Command Headquarters and the meeting in the same regard of Hambantota harbour was held on its harbour premises.
Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul chaired the meeting and stakeholders from all organizations and companies as well as representatives of Merchant Shipping Services were also present.
During the meeting, matters were lengthy discussed in terms of the Navy’s expectations with regard to the ISPS and the standards to be maintained by each stakeholder. Meanwhile, the occasion unveiled a lobby to discuss individual concerns on ISPS implementations, lapses and ways and means to overcome them.
The meetings were also attended by Port Facility Security Officers of Galle and Hambantota harbours, Commodore Aruna Danapala and Commodore Ashoka Wijesiriwardena and a group of officials.
