Navy apprehends a person engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel apprehended a person engaged in illegal fishing in Kokkuthuduwai area, Mullaitivu this morning (29^th June).

Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command apprehended the suspect who was practicing light-coarse fishing in Kokkuthuduwai area. Along with the suspect a dinghy, an outboard motor, a generator and 09 electric bulbs were taken into naval custody. The suspect has been identified as a resident of Puttalam area.

The apprehended suspect together with the dinghy, outboard motor, generator, electric bulbs and other fishing gear was handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Mullaitivu for onward action.
