Occupational safety and health awareness programme held for naval personnel

An awareness programme on occupational safety and health, organized for the benefit of naval personnel, was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium on 27^th June 2019.

The programme which was presided over by Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Ravindra Ranasinghe was conducted by CEO-Apex Environmental Safety and Health in Hawaii, Mrs. Niranjala Cooray. During the programme Mrs. Cooray shed light on areas concerned with the safety, health, and welfare such as confined space, emergency response, hazardous materials and items, proper lockout procedure, issues of asbestos, noise, slips, trips and falls.

The programme was attended by a cross-section of officers and sailors belonging to every branch in the Navy. The second phase of the programme is scheduled to be held in the Eastern Naval Command on 08^th July 2019.
