Navy held four (04) persons engaged in fishing using explosives

A group of naval personnel arrested four (04) suspects who engaged in fishing using explosives in Mannar on 22^nd June 2019.

Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command, during a patrol, held 04 suspects who engaged in illegal fishing using explosives. The suspects have been identified as residents of Mannar, aged 33, 32, 30 and 27.

Along with the suspects a dinghy, an outboard motor and 358kg of illegally caught fish were seized by the Navy. They were subsequently handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries-Mannar for onward action.
