Navy recovers 24 unauthorized fishing nets in Batticaloa lagoon area

Navy recovered 24 unauthorized fishing nets each 100m long, in the Batticoloa lagoon area, today (20^th June).

Accordingly, naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command, during a patrol conducted in the lagoon area of Batticaloa today, recovered 24 banned fishing nets.

Subsequently, these unauthorized fishing nets were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Batticaloa for onward legal action.
