Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe assumes duties as Commander Eastern Naval Area
Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe assumed duties as the Commander Eastern Naval Area at the ENC Headquarters, today (3rd June).
His predecessor, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe formally handed over the duties of the position to Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe at the Eastern Naval Command HQ located at Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee. Prior to this new appointment, Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe commanded the Northern Naval Command as the Area Commander.
The incoming Area Commander was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received to the Eastern Naval Command and a similar formation followed suit to honour Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe after he was congratulated by fellow officers of the Eastern Naval Command. Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe is due to take over the Western Naval Command as the Area Commander.
