Navy recovers body of a person jumped into Polwatta River

Sri Lanka Navy divers recovered a body of a person jumped into Polwatta River from Denipitiya Bridge on Weligama – Akuressa road.

On receipt of information to the Navy from the Weligama Police to retrieve the dead body of a person jumped into Polwatta River today (01^st June), a diving team attached to the Southern Naval Command was promptly rushed to the location, following the directives of the Area Commander.

After a strenuous effort the Navy divers managed to find the dead body lying underwater. The deceased was handed over to the Weligama Police Station for onward investigation.
