Navy becomes runners-up at Inter Club Premier League Cricket

Sri Lanka Navy Cricket Team secured the title of runners-up tier ‘B’ in the Inter Clubs Premier League Cricket tournament of 2018/2019.

Accordingly, the series of the encounters of this cricket tournament which was commenced in January 2019 ended up on 16^th May 2019 and the Navy cricketers won the title of runners-up of the ‘B’ division, exhibiting their improved talents. During this tournament, outstanding batsmen of the Navy team were MTG Iddamalgoda (476 runs), Lieutenant Commander(S) GS Leelarathna (412 runs), KSP Fonseka (411 runs), ADC de Silva (400 runs) and HSN Fernando (296 runs). Out of the bowlers HGK Dilshan, TSS Pieris and MADI Hemantha who got 41, 38 and 20 wickets respectively, were highlighted.

Moreover, during this cricket season Lieutenant Commander(S) GS Leelarathna who gripped 14 catches was adjudged as the best catcher while MADI Hemantha of SL Navy who scored 291 runs and got 20 wickets, was crowned as the best all round cricketer of the tournament.

The ‘B’ division of this tournament which was organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board was participated by 09 recognized cricket clubs of the country including SL Air Force and Sri Lanka Police.
