Another RO plant declared open for community use

A Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant was declared open by the Commandant SLNS Shiksha Captain(C) Janaka Nissanka at Samatha Vipassana Meditation Centre in Rajaganaya area, Anuradhaphra on 24th May 2019.

The occasion was attended by the nuns of the Meditation Centre, the administration Officer of RO Plant Project Lt Asanka Navarathna, Grama Niladari, sailors and a large number of people in the area. This RO plant installed by the Navy, will be able to supply safe drinking water for about 400 families as well as devotees to the Meditation Centre.

In a bid to provide safe drinking water for deprived community in areas where high prevalence of Kidney Disease is reported, a large number of RO units, manufactured utilizing Navy’s manpower and technological know-how, has been vested in the ownership of the public in a number of districts across the country . This generous endeavour carried out by the Navy following the visionary concept of His Excellency the President, is sponsored by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease and various philanthropists who concerned about this worthy cause.

Sri Lanka, the Navy is determined to install a number of RO plants in identified areas in the future, in collaboration with the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease.
