Navy apprehends a group of personnel transporting sand

A Naval team apprehended 06 persons who were illegally transporting sand in Kandalkadu area, Trincomalee on 23^rd May 2019.

Accordingly, a team of Marine personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command apprehended 06 persons who were illegally transporting sand, during a raid carried out in Kandalkadu area, Trincomalee. 04 lorries, 06 cubes of sand were also taken into naval custody and subsequently the suspects, lorries and sand stock were handed over to Muthur Police for onward legal action.

Further, contributing the national policy of environmental conservation, Sri Lanka Navy conducts frequent raids in order to arrest the persons who involve in the illegal sand mining and transferring rackets.
