Twelve senior Naval officers conferred with Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV) medal
Twelve senior officers of the Sri Lanka Navy conferred with Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV) medal by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and the President His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, today (22nd May).
Accordingly, the awarding ceremony of the Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV) medal which is conferred to the officers in the Tri Forces who have unblemished continuous service of more than 25 years, was held at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of HE the President Maithripala Sirisena.
Sixty five (65) officers of Tri Forces who are in active service and retired, conferred with VSV medal by HE the President and this group included 40 officers of SL Army, 12 officers of SL Navy and 13 officers of SL Air Force.
Accordingly, Rear Admiral NPS Attygalle, Rear Admiral GSR Jayawardena, Rear Admiral SMDK Samaraweera, Rear Admiral PM Wickramasinghe, Rear Admiral SA Weerasinghe, Rear Admiral HAUD Hettiarachchi, Rear Admiral MHM Gamage, the senior officers in active service and Rear Admiral (Rtd.) HDRN Premasiri, Rear Admiral (Rtd.) EW Jayasinghe, Rear Admiral (Rtd) AAP Liyanage, Rear Admiral (Rtd.) PRB Dissanayaka, Rear Admiral (Rtd.) UAB Ekanayaka, the retired senior officers were awarded with the VSV medal.
State Minister for Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardena, President’s Secretary Mr. Udaya R Senavirathna, Defence Secretary General Shantha Kottegoda, Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Army General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathi and a host of senior officers of the security forces were present on this occasion.
