Rear Admiral Kassapa Gotabhaya Paul assumes duties as Commander Southern Naval Area

Rear Admiral Kassapa Gotabhaya Paul, USP, nswc, MAIR, BA(DS) Hons assumed duties as new Commander Southern Naval Area at the Southern Naval Command Headquarters today (21st May).

Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera, who previously held the office, formally handed over the duties of the appointment to his successor at SLNS Dakshina in the Southern Naval Command Headquarters. Before being appointed as Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul held office as Director General Administration at the Naval Headquarters.

The newly appointed Area Commander was accorded a Guard of Honour and he was warmly received to the Southern Naval Command. Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera, the former Area Commander, is scheduled to take over charge as Commander Northern Naval Area. As such, the outgoing senior officer was congratulated by a cross section of officers attached to the Southern Naval Command and accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions.
