Prospective Navy officers receive letters of appointment at Naval Headquarters
A ceremony to present the letters of appointment to the newly enlisted Officer Cadets of the Navy, was held at the Naval Headquarters today (10th May).
Accordingly, Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne presided over the ceremony that was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama to hand over the letters of appointment to 53 Officer Cadets enlisted to the 62nd Intake of the Sri Lanka Navy. The Officer Cadets belong to the Executive, Logistics, Engineering, Electrical & Electronic and Infantry branches.
Addressing the gathering, Navy Chief of Staff praised young blooded Officer Cadets for taking one of the best decisions of their life to join the Navy. Further, he reminded that the Navy is a knowledge hub that would offer newly enlisted Officer Cadets a wide array of exposure and experience.
He also advised the new group of officers to perform their duties upholding qualities such as; loyalty, discipline, commitment, attitude and integrity that will pave the way for a successful naval career. Rear Admiral Ulugetenne also thanked the parents for giving the consent to their beloved children to serve the motherland with a noble resolve.
The occasion was also attended by Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle, Director General Personnel, Rear Admiral Merril Sudarshana, Director General Training, Nandana Jayarathne, senior officers and family members of Officer Cadets.
