Navy apprehends four persons for illegal sand mining

A team of Naval personnel apprehended four persons for illegal sand mining, during a raid carried out at Kalladi area in Trincomalee, yesterday (9^th May).

Accordingly, a team of Naval personnel attached to Eastern Naval Command apprehend these four (04) persons who were mining sand at Mahaweli river without permits. A tractor used by them loaded with sand was also taken into Naval custody.

The suspects, tractor and sand were handed over to Serunuwara Police for onward legal action.
