Navy-organized drug abuse prevention programmes held in Mahaoya,

Another drug abuse prevention programme organized by the Sri Lanka Navy was successfully held in the Zonal Education of Mahaoya, Ampara yesterday (08th May).

Going by the national programme – ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu’ mooted by His Excellency the President, the Navy has also organized a number of drug abuse prevention programmes island-wide.

At present these programmes are in progress, covering the Divisional Secretariats of the Ampara district. Accordingly, a range of drug abuse prevention programmes as well as awareness programmes for teachers have been conducted in the Zonal Education of Mahaoya, with the participation of a large number of school children and teachers.

These awareness programmes are conducted by groups consisted of naval officers and counsellors and they are well assisted by activists of government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the area.
