Sri Lankans in USA strengthen detection capabilities of Navy

A group of Sri Lankans in New Jersey, USA presented15 metal detectors for the use of Sri Lanka Navy.

Meanwhile, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva officially handed over these 15 metal detectors to the Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle at the Naval Headquarters yesterday (06th May).

Following the series of terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday (21st April), a group of patriotic Sri Lankans living in New Jersey, USA began a fundraiser to strengthen the detection capabilities of the armed forces.

Accordingly they have promptly shipped 15 metal detectors worth approximately Rs. 400,000 to the Sri Lanka Navy, in an attempt to strengthen its capabilities during explosive detection.

Further, Commander of the Navy also extended his debt of gratitude towards this generous gesture of the fundraisers in this hour of need.
