Navy recovers a haul of explosive in Erakkandi
Navy recovered a hidden haul of explosive during a special raid carried out in Erakkandi area on 4th May.
Accordingly, a team of Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command recovered a haul of explosive hidden in a fishing hut in Erakkandi area. Fourteen (14) stick of water gel, 26 non electric detonators and 5’8” long safety fuse were included the recovered haul and it was handed over to Kuchchaweli Police for onward action.
Further, the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva warningly stressed to the manufacturers and distributors of explosive materials in the country, about the misuse of these explosive for illegal acts, in a meeting held at the Naval Headquarters on 29thApril.
