Person arrested for illegal transferring of cattle

A group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested a person for illegal transferring of cattle, during a mobile patrol in Mankeni yesterday (05^th May).

During a mobile patrol conducted in Mankeni, Vakarai, the naval personnel intercepted a suspected cab loaded with cattle and inspected the vehicle. While inspection, it was revealed that there were 05 cattle that were loaded beyond the capacity of the small cab and being transferred by illegal means. Thereupon, the suspect was arrested and the cab and cattle were detained in naval custody.

The suspect has been identified as a resident of Valachchanai, aged 31.The 31-year-old suspect, the vehicle and cattle were handed over to the Vakarai Police for onward action.
