Navy apprehends 12 persons for catching sea cucumber
A group of naval personnel apprehended 12 persons for catching sea cucumber by illegal means in the sea area west of Coma Point yesterday (23rd April).
Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to a craft belonging to the Northern Naval Command, during a patrol carried out yesterday, apprehended these 12 suspects who were catching sea cucumber without a valid permit. Along with the suspects a dinghy and an outboard motor were also taken into naval custody.
The apprehended suspects are residents of Pooneryn area, aged from 24 to 47. The suspects, the dinghy, the outboard motor and other fishing gear were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Pooneryn for onward investigation.
