Navy rescues a girl drowning in Panama lagoon
Navy rescued a girl who was drowning in the Panama lagoon, yesterday (19th April).
This rescued girl who was among a team of local tourists into Panama area, had gone for bathing in the lagoon. While she was in danger, the lifesaving sailors attached to the Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) who had observed her drowning, rushed into the action and the girl was rescued safely. Later on, she was handed over to her relatives. The girl is a 18 year old resident of Pothuvil area.
Further, Sri Lanka Navy managed to rescue two persons who fell into water while riding Jet Ski at the Lake Gregory in Nuwara Eliya yesterday (19th April).
It has been observed that the fall of death of the people who travel in various destinations during the new year festive season, have increased due to careless attempts of bathing at dangerous places of tanks and streams. Therefore general public are requested to be aware of harmless places for bathing.
