Navy nabs two persons for fishing without valid passes

A Naval troop apprehended two persons engaged in illegal fishing in Norochcholai sea area, today(17 April).

Accordingly, the crew of a Inshore Patrol Craft attached to the Northwestern Naval Command apprehended two persons who engaged in illegal fishing without valid passes, during a patrol carried out in Norochcholai sea area. A dinghy and an OBM used by them, have also been taken into naval custody.

The suspects are residents of Thoduwawa area aged 58 and 39 and they along with the arrested items were handed over to Fisheries Inspector-Puttalam for onward legal action.
