Navy held two persons for fishing with explosive

A Naval troop apprehended 2 persons who engaged in fishing activities using explosive at the sea off Chemmalai area in Trincomalee, today (17^th April).

Accordingly, a troop of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Area, apprehended 2 persons who engaged in fishing with explosive, during a patrol carried out today. The suspects are residents of Pulmudai area aged 29 and 27.

A dinghy used for fishing, an OBM, 04 non electric detonators, 10 inch long safety fuse and a gelignite stick had also been taken into naval custody and those items along with the suspects were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries-Mulathivu for onward legal action.
