Navy held two persons engaged in illegal fishing

A Naval team apprehended 2 persons who engaged in illegal fishing at Back Bay area in Trincomalee, today (16^th April).

Accordingly, a team of Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command, whilst on patrol, apprehended two persons who engaged in illegal fishing with banned nets at Back Bay area which has been prohibited for fishing. The suspects are residents of Trincomalee area aged 41 and 42. A dinghy, an Out board motor, 08 kg of fish and 150m long unauthorized net were taken into naval custody.

The suspects along with the apprehended items were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries-Trincomalee through Department of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, for onward legal action.
